The July newsletter has been released. See our Newsletters page for the July and earlier issues.

Dan Morley shares his editorial reflections on the 2011-2012 Garden City Toastmasters year.

Tuesday, June 19 marked the final regular meeting of Garden City Toastmasters, though the club will continue to meet bi-weekly over the summer. As we mark this occasion, it is worth reflecting on the past year, because it has been quite a remarkable one. Many club members achieved personal goals, and, as a result, the club earned 10 Distinguished Club Points, the maximum possible.

We also took enormous pleasure in the strong performances of Joe Vanderkooi and David Marsh in the evaluation and speech contests this past spring. The club also marked its 60th anniversary, and the celebration was both a delight and a success. We had the enormous pleasure of hearing a speech from Darren Lacroix, one of the best in the business.

We were sad to lose some club members, but also benefitted from the arrival of several new members, who gave the club an infusion of talent and enthusiasm, which bode well for the future. Also, our outgoing president, Orest Nahacziwec, will serve as District Public Relations Officer for District 86! Good luck Orest!

So, as we prepare for the summer and beyond, we can look back to the past with pride and look forward to the future with hope.
